James "Jim" Robert Johnson, 85, of Bordentown Township, NJ passed away peacefully with his loved ones near on Monday, April 8, 2024.
A Trenton native and long-time resident of Bordentown, Jim was a kind and compassionate man. He was married to the love of his life and soulmate, Patricianne Johnson, for more than 60 years. Jim is predeceased by his loving wife, his parents Johanna & Grant Johnson, and his sister Maryanne. Jim is survived by his daughter Patricianne Ridolfi and her husband Tom, Marie-Jamie Johnson-Ruiz and her husband Irian, and Pamela Kagel and her husband Joseph. Jim was a proud "Pop Pop" to Jennifer, Kaitie, Madison, Samantha, Riley, Jamye, and Joseph, and never missed a game, dance recital, graduation, or birthday. Jim went out of his way to make each grandchild feel love and support, and always jumped at the chance to cheer his family on. Jim will also be missed by his great grandchildren, Luca, Hudson, and Capri.
Jim was a graduate of Trenton High School and later pursued a degree in Civil Engineering from Rider University. Jim was a passionate lover of the environment, and was a certified land surveyor and draftsman. He worked as Director, Bureau of Tidelands - New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, for 35 years. Protecting the environment was his life's work: even after retiring Jim went on to consult for Charles Jones in West Trenton, NJ.
Jim loved to travel with his wife and family, cheer for the Boston Red Sox and Chicago Bears, and attend church on Sundays at Saint Mary's in Bordentown. Most of all Jim enjoyed spending time with his wife and family: dressing up as Santa Claus for the holidays, attending countless games and recitals, and even just sharing a song, a silly joke, or a sweet treat.
Jim's legacy reminds us to enjoy the little things, love one another, and give thanks to the many blessings in life.
Please join his family in a Memorial Mass on Wednesday morning, April 17, 2024, at 11:00am, at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish (formerly St. Mary's), 45 Crosswicks Street, Bordentown, NJ. Interment will be in Bordentown Cemetery where both Jim and Patty will be laid together at their final resting place.
