Michael Egan Krauser, 62, of Louisville, KY died Saturday November 11th 2023 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital.
Mike graduated from Saint Xavier High School (1979), Miami of Ohio (1983), and University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law (1986). He practiced law for over 36 years in Kentucky and Indiana.
He loved his family. Mike loved his friends like family. He was so proud of Grace, Laura, and Jackson, of their accomplishments, but mostly of their empathy, their passion for life, and their kindness. He had a special relationship with each, and each believed they were his favorite. They were all right.
Mike met his wife Mary when he was 16, and often told Mary he knew she was the one when he first met her. Only after 7 years of friendship did he finally muster the courage to ask her out. They spent the next 39 years together sharing in love and life, in all the beautiful moments, enduring all the challenging ones. His strong presence, clever wit, sense of humor, and capacity to love others will be deeply missed.
He enjoyed playing basketball, golf, and recently pickleball. Mike's passion for soccer was shared with his son Jackson with many long conversations discussing goals, red cards, and whether the referee's offside calls were in fact correct. He loved all kinds of music, with the exception of Bob Seger, which we truly never understood. Mike appreciated the simple things in life, which centered around good food, beer, and wine and time spent at concerts, games, the beach, Nolin Lake, and boating with his friends. He was an expert fire-builder. You never wanted to miss time shared with him at the fire pit, where he spent countless hours with family and friends discussing incredibly important topics, debating your opinions, and solving the world's problems – often on deaf ears. Mike's compassion, company, and wisdom will be missed.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents George Krauser, Jr. and Patricia Egan Krauser, in-laws Robert P. and Rita Jackson, brother-in-law Kenneth Eberhart, and nephews Cameron Ward and Mathew Eberhart.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 36 years Mary Jackson Krauser, children Grace Ellen, Laura Egan, and Jackson Michael. His siblings Katherine "Kitty" Schloemer, Denise Eberhart, Steve Krauser (Deb), Tricia Toothman (Craig), and Lisa Cappe (Len). In laws Paul Jackson (Kathy), David Jackson, and Ann Jackson Sandfort. 17 nephews and nieces, 22 great nephews and nieces, who had a special place in his heart.
The service will be at 12 PM on Friday, November 17, 2023 at Pearson's, 149 Breckenridge Lane, Louisville, KY 40207.
The family will receive friends from 2 PM – 8 PM on Thursday, November 16, 2023, and from 10 AM – 12 PM on Friday, November 17 with service to follow. During the service, family and friends will be invited to share stories about Mike and celebrate his life.
Michael's remains will be buried alongside his mother at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to honor his love of Presentation Academy, 861 S. Fourth St.
Louisville, KY 40203.
Arrangements under the direction of Pearson's, "Where Louisville Goes to Remember".

Just saw Mike´s farewell notice in the Miamian today. Mike (Big Mike as we all called him) was such a joy to be around during our days at Miami! We had so much fun playing many intramural sports with him (korfball was a favorite as we could use his height!) He spent many hours in our dorm room playing Spades while drinking a cold one! A friend to many at Mother Miami. So sorry for your loss...I would have loved to have played some Pickleball with him!

Michael was a very good friend to me when we were young, but we lost touch after high school. We caught up a decade ago when my mother passed. After all those years he was still the generous, smart, clever and funny man that I remembered from childhood, albeit with his own family that he was obviously very proud of. Michael made the world a better place. He will be missed.

I did not know Mike personally, but he raised an amazing son in Jackson. I now know who to credit for all of Jackson's success in refereeing. Wishing your family strength in this difficult time, and sending lots of love.

Mike is able to take complex concepts and explain them in a way that was so easy to understand. His insight was always so appreciated.
