Mike McCray

David Michael McCray (Mike), 75, of Newport, NC went to be in the arms of Jesus, in the middle of the afternoon on January 10, 2025. He was born on October 17, 1949, to David and Helen McCray in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Mike loved God and his family with all of his heart. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a strong, gentle, and kind Christian man. He was a member of the Eagle Scouts. He earned a bachelor's degree in physics and mathematics from ECU. Until his retirement, Mike worked as an engineer. Mike spent his entire life working hard. In addition to fishing, hunting, spending time on the boat, working with his hands, and serving in the church, he enjoyed helping, motivating, and instructing others. Mike was preceded in death by his parents David and Helen McCray. He is survived by his wife, Valorie, daughter, Vickie Burgfeld (Ricky), grandchildren Hallie McCray, Madison Burgfeld, Michael Burgfeld. Mother-in-law Florine Hines, Father-in-law Pete Hines.
Memorial Service will be held at Triad Cowboy Church, 6805 Muddy Creek Rd, High Point, NC 27263, at 2:30 pm on January 17, 2025, with Rev. Doug Davis officiating. Family will receive friends following the service.
