Funeral services celebrating the life of Peggy Jo Craighead, 84, of West Monroe, Louisiana will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Highland Baptist Church with Bro. Skip Dean officiating. Interment will follow immediately after at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe. Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service.
Mrs. Peggy Jo Owens Craighead was born on May 9, 1941, in Downsville, Louisiana and passed away on May 12, 2025, in West Monroe, Louisiana.
Mrs. Peggy was a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend she always lit up any room she entered with her infectious smile. She was an excellent cook and loved having her friends and family over to feed them. Her nephews always told her she needed to open a restaurant just for her fried chicken. After many years of dedicated service working for Chase Mortgage she retired. To know Mrs. Peggy was to love her. Her life and legacy will leave a lasting impact on all who knew her and she will be deeply missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clifton and Mattie Alline Owens; sister, Doris Eldridge; brother-in-law’s, Sam Eldridge and Joe Doran; grandson, Steven Kidd, and niece, Jennifer Linder.
Those left to cherish Peggy’s memory are her beloved husband of sixty-five years, Jimmy Ray Craighead, Sr.; daughters, Lorrie Avant and husband, Bill and Janet Linder and husband, Ron; son, Ray Craighead, Jr. and his wife, Cathy; brother, Buddy Owens and wife, Bertha Nell; sister, Brenda Doran; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
The pallbearers will be Steve Craighead, Todd Craighead, Sammy Eldridge, Tommy Eldridge, Rusty Little, Joel Tedeton, Ronnie Townsend, and Calvin Woodall.
