Robert P. Andersen, age 87 of Suring, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025. Bob was born on July 14, 1937 to the late Roy and Irene (VanderBloemen) Andersen. He grew up in Hickory Corners and graduated from Oconto Falls High School. After graduating, Bob served in the National Guard for 6 years. In 1956, he began working for Nabisco. On October 25, 1957, Bob married Mary Hewitt Fullerton. In 1966, the couple bought the Standard Station in Gillett. During this time, Bob built several stock cars and raced them for a few years. When they sold the station in 1973, Bob moved on to Country Gardens in 1974 and worked there until his retirement. Bob and Mary loved traveling out west and going to Vegas. They also enjoyed bringing their grandchildren on some of their trips. The couple enjoyed living together on White Lake until Mary's passing, a few months shy of their 50th wedding anniversary. Bob was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He passed on this love and a great appreciation for the outdoors to his children. Bob was also very knowledgeable about guns and an accomplished tournament shooter. He enjoyed shooting trap and clay pigeons. Bob was a member of Crystal River Gunslingers Cowboy Action Shoots with the nickname "Hickory Slim."
Bob is survived by his children, Barb (Paul) Eagle and Steve (Lynette) Andersen; grandchildren, Nicole (Jeff) Leurquin and Eric Eagle; brothers-in-law, Donald Fullerton, Thomas (Sandra) Fullerton, Scott Fullerton, and Dan Pogrant; sisters-in-law, Carol Porath and Donna (Pete) Matchefts. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Mary; sister, Norma (Frank) Colling; sister-in-law, Kay Pogrant; brother-in-law, Ed Fullerton.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring from 9 am until the memorial service at 11 am with Pastor Dominic Petit officiating.
