Ronald Peterson, 91, of Dover, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Park Village Health Care Center.
Born July 11, 1933, in Unionport, Ohio, he was a son of the late Marion and Mary McBain Peterson. A proud veteran, Ron served his country honorably in the United States Army. He later dedicated his professional life as a skilled member of the Pipefitter Union Local #94. A man of quiet strength and integrity, Ron valued hard work, service, and community.
A 1952 graduate of Carrollton High School, Ron remained deeply connected to his alma mater throughout his life. His legacy in Carrollton athletics was recognized when he was inducted into the Carrollton High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He and his beloved wife, Etta Mae, were avid fans of Carrollton High School sports, holding season tickets to multiple sports for decades and serving as faithful supporters of local student-athletes.
Ron was also a longtime member of the American Legion and a devoted member of Carrollton First United Methodist Church, where his faith and fellowship were an important part of his life.
He is survived by his wife of many years, the former Etta Mae Hull; two sons, Gary (Julie) Peterson of Dover and Terry (Nannette) Peterson of Jackson Township; and five cherished grandchildren who brought great joy to his life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and five sisters.
A graveside service honoring Ron's life and military service will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, at noon in Westview Cemetery with Pastor Dale Chryst officiating. Full military honors will be observed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ron's name to the Carrollton Warriors Athletic Booster Club, 205 Scio Road, Carrollton, Ohio 44615.

Dear Mrs. Etta Mae Peterson & Family, and lifetime neighbors Terry & Nannette, Makenzie & Mitchell, & Kent,

The Heavens have so brightened with Ron´s spiritual homecoming, while I pray your deepest family memories and fond & unique reminders are tenderly comforting your hurting hearts for your husband, father, father in law, and grandfather

(Please accept my sincerest apology for not being in person today to support each of you.)

May an abundance of faith, love, rest, renewal, strength, compassion, hope, hugs, and gentle healing blanket your entire family in your quiet moments of need.

Carrollton was immeasurably blessed and entertained by their Ron´s `G.O.A.T.´ athlete, legacy of community support, military service, and selfless contributions to hometown friends

May peace be with each of you day by day, as special moments and `the little things´ your husband, dad, grandpa did with you, can only uniquely be felt and long treasured.
