Tyler Thiels, age 32, of Deville, entered eternal rest on Thursday, September 21, 2023.
A memorial service will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Gallagher Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Lane Creech officiating. The visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Interment will follow the services at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Elmer, LA under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home.
Tyler was born on July 2, 1991, in Alexandria. He graduated Oak Hill High School in 2010 and on February 28, 2012, joined the Louisiana Army National Guard where he advanced to the rank of SSG/E-6. He was employed as a mechanic at Mates 93 and in the Training Center as a Range Operations Support NCO. His commitment to his country and his fellow service members was a source of pride for him and his family.
Tyler was an avid LSU fan and loved being outside, hunting and fishing. He was passionate about coaching his daughter's softball team. He owned and operated T&T Cornhole, where he met and became friends with many people. Most importantly, Tyler was a good husband and father. He will forever be missed and leaves a void in the hearts of all that knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Janet Thiels; maternal grandfather, Ira Dale Jones; and uncle, Kevin Thiels.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 11 years, Tiffany; daughter, Kyla; son, Wesley; parents, Jeannie and Charles Landry; Brent and Phyllis Thiels; paternal grandfather, Charles Thiels; maternal grandmother, Ernestine Crawford; in-laws, Ann Berry and Lance Harris; two sisters, Tiffany Johnson (Erik) and Sabrina Thiels; two brothers, Austin Laborde (Dee) and Brenton Thiels; two step-brothers, Tanner Landry (Megan) and Taylor Landry; and a host of extended family and friends.
A special thanks goes to Dustin Lewis for being the best friend and brother-in-law to Tyler, for being the godfather to Kyla and Wesley, and to all of Tyler's military family.
The Army Honor Team will proudly serve as pallbearers.
