William J Gilligan

William J. Gilligan, 94, passed away on Saturday June 17, 2023, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in 1928 in Jersey City and attended James J. Ferris High School. William was a proud Marine Corps Combat Veteran of the Korean War, earning two Purple Hearts. He worked on Wall Street at the New York Stock Exchange as a Broker for many years and enjoyed every minute of it. William loved to run and walk on the Belmar Boardwalk. He also competed in half and full marathons.
William is survived by his loving wife Mildred, his sons Frank and Billy, Jr, and his daughters Mary Arvanitis and son in law Sam, Diane Curd and son in law Howard, Grandchildren Howard, Jillian and Cyril. He never ever missed an event for his children or grandchildren. William was the best father his children could have asked for. He will be missed immensely but we know he is looking over all of us from above. We love you and we know you are no longer suffering.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am on Monday July 26, 2023, at St Michael's Church 800 Ocean Avenue N. Long Branch, NJ 07740.
