"Loving husband, father and grandfather"
Anthony R. Cocchiola, 79, of Bethlehem, entered into the gates of heaven on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at the VITAS Inpatient Unit at St. Mary's Hospital. He was the loving husband of Sandra L. (Brandmeyer) Cocchiola.
Tony was born in Waterbury, CT on March 15, 1943, son of the late Raphael A. and Lucy (Pape) Cocchiola. He was baptized, confirmed and an altar boy at St. Patrick's Church in the Brooklyn Section of Waterbury where he grew up. He graduated from W.F. Kaynor Technical High School, Class of 1961 specializing as an auto mechanic. He proudly served in the Connecticut Army National Guard. At an early age when his dad suffered a heart attack, he quickly joined his father's company, Cocchiola Paving, where he excelled and ran the company for over sixty years until his retirement when he became ill.
Tony and his wife enjoyed spending their winters in Delray Beach, FL where he enjoyed spending time on his boat fishing and cruising the waters. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Shriners and the Masonic Lodge.
Besides his beloved wife, Sandra of 54 years, he leaves a son, Raphael A. Cocchiola of Bethlehem, a daughter, Melissa M. Foster and her husband, Dr. Stanley Foster of Goshen and two grandsons, whom he loved and adored, William Anthony Cocchiola and Chase Raphael Cocchiola. He was predeceased by his sister, Lucille Mann.
Arrangements: Calling hours with Tony's cremains present will be held on Thursday evening, August 18, 2022 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 19, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 574 Main St., Watertown, CT. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at a later date.
