Gagret B. Barnum

Gagret Bernard Barnum, Sr. 58, of New Britain, CT, passed away on Friday, January 26th, 2024. Gagret was born on April 25th, 1965, in Hartford, Connecticut to Johnny Barnum and the late Mamie Barnum (Lewis). Gagret graduated from Weaver High School, class of 1983. After high school, Gagret continued his educational journey and attended Devry University where he studied technology. Throughout his career, Gagret held various employment positions within the manufacturing industry. Gagret was most recently employed at SCA Pharma in Windsor, CT as a Packaging Associate.
Gagret was a proud father, brother, and loving partner. Gagret had a unique love for cars, Playstation games, Nike sneakers, and Timberland boots. Gagret was an action and sci-fi movie buff and enjoyed various television shows. Most notably: Star Trek, all things Marvel/DC, and Westworld. Gagret was also a huge Giants fan! Gagret loved all genres of music, but Hip Hop, Rap, and R&B were his favorites. He enjoyed the likes of Jay-Z, 50 Cent, G-Unit, Biggie, Nas, and Tupac. Gagret was also a foodie and had a soft spot for soul food and his mother's pound cake. Don't forget the Cool Whip or vanilla ice cream on the side!
The passing of Gagret will leave a permanent aching in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Left behind to cherish in Gagret's memory is his father, Johnny Barnum; daughters, Ashley Barnum, and Nia Barnum; son, Gagret Barnum II; sisters, Gagretta Peak, Karen Harris, Calina Barnum; his significant other, Yashira Rosario; nieces and nephews; and a host of other close relatives and friends.
Gagret's family will receive family and friends on Friday, February 9, 2024, from 10am-11am, followed by a celebration of life at 11am, at Faith Congregational Church, 2030 Main Street, Hartford, CT. The interment will follow immediately after in Mountain View Cemetery, Bloomfield, CT.
