John Blaha, 68, passed away on May 23, 2024 at home with his wife and children at his side. John went home to be with the Lord after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Despite this, he never lost his faith, optimism or love for his family and friends.
John was the son of Jerry and Jean Blaha, born August 4th, 1955 in Garfield Hts., Ohio. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Susan Blaha, and their two children; Jeffrey Blaha and wife Jennifer of Falmouth, MA and Rebecca Hrinda and husband Todd of West Bridgewater, MA. John is also survived by his most loved grandson, Theodore Hrinda.
John graduated from Bedford High School in Bedford, Ohio and worked as an orderly to put himself through Cleveland State University earning a BBA in accounting, becoming a CPA. His business talent and love of life and people took him around the world, living in Europe for a time with his family. The Blaha's arrived in Plymouth, MA in 1989. John was a parishioner of Mary, Queen of Martyrs Parish/St. Peter, a proud member of the Knights of Columbus Council 10049, volunteered at St. Peter's Kitchen and Saint Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, was proud to teach CCD and RCIA classes. He volunteered countless hours to youth activities from sports to bands. John will be remembered as a dedicated husband and father who loved life, made us laugh and was always the life of the party. His light always showed through and will remain with us forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 10:00 am till 11:45 am at the Cartmell-Davis Funeral Home 150 Court Street, (Downtown) Plymouth, MA 02360. A funeral Mass will follow at 12 noon at St. Peters Church, 86 Court Street, Plymouth, MA 02360. Followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery, Summer Street, Plymouth, MA 02360.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Peter's Kitchen or St. Peter's Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, 10 Memorial Drive, Plymouth, MA 02360.
