Joseph Hart Speiden Jr.

Joseph Hart Speiden (Joe), age 83, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Katie; his son, Jay; and his sister, Mara Stevenson. Joe is survived by his daughter, Mary Easterling (David); his son, Will Speiden; and his sister, Shelley Henry (Ed). He was a loving "Poppie" to his grandchildren Emily and Hayden Easterling.
A long-time Louisvillian, Joe was a graduate of Atherton High School and later Duke University. He had a long career in Medical Sales Management where his kind heart and caring personality afforded him many relationships and friendships near and far. Eventually, his job brought him back to Louisville after living in North Carolina, Tennessee, and Illinois. Joe settled his family in Anchorage, where he was an active community member for many years. He held volunteer positions at Owl Creek Country Club, on the Anchorage Ambulance Board, and at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in the Vestry and Choir. He was also active in the Duke alumni group. He was later President of the Forum at Brookside Resident Association. Joe had a talent for fostering deep friendships and he shared his wit and kindness with all. He was a proud father and grandfather and spent countless hours supporting his children and grandchildren in their many activities. Some of his favorite things were playing golf with his friends, vacations at Higgins Lake, and singing and playing guitar in the choir and choral groups. He loved his many dogs, music of all kinds, watching the Duke Blue Devils, and U of L basketball. He will be deeply missed by family and friends alike.
The visitation will be Thursday, January 11 from 4-6pm and the funeral will be Friday, January 12th at 11am. Both will be held at St Luke's Episcopal Church (1206 Maple Lane, Anchorage, KY).
