Justin (Gus) Adduci, 94 years, of Toledo, Ohio formerly of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 6, 2025 at Kingston Care Center in Sylvania, Ohio.
Born March 8, 1931 in Monroe, Gus was the son of the late Giorgio and Maria Francesca (Panno) Adduci. Gus was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monroe. He attended Lincoln Elementary School and was a 1949 graduate of Monroe High School where he played tennis. Gus went on to attend Eastern Michigan University, the University of Toledo and received his B.A. from Wayne State University in Detroit.
After his high school graduation, Gus entered the United States Air Force. He served his country honorably and proudly as a Medical Corpsman until his discharge on June 26, 1950. He then served as a reservist for 5 additional years.
Gus was appointed Friend of the Court in Monroe County by Governor John B Swainson of Michigan in 1961. He served in that position until his retirement in 1993. During his tenure, Gus was a member of the Board of Directors of Southeastern Michigan Support Council, the Circuit Court Referees Association of Michigan, the Director of Cooperative Reimbursements Program, and a Chairman for the Allocation Board's United Way Commercial Division. He also co-owned and operated Valduci's Pizzeria with Frank Valicenti in Monroe for many years.
Gus was a member of the Monroe Italian American Club. He, along with his long time friend, Mario Pace, donated their time and talent putting on many spaghetti dinner fundraisers. One of their annual fundraising events was to benefit the Monroe Center for Healthy Aging. Gus also enjoyed going to auctions, buying and selling cars, horse racing, and traveling, especially trips to Italy and Las Vegas. In his later years, Gus devoted his time to attend his grandsons' events. Most of all, he cherished his time spent with family and friends.
Gus is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Tammie (Dey) Adduci of Toledo, OH; three cherished grandsons: Dominic, Vincenzo and Anthony, his sister Jean Ciacelli of Port Clinton, OH and dear friend Janice Saunders of Toledo, OH.
In addition to his parents, Gus was preceded in death by two brothers, Alex and V.J. (Jim) Adduci and his dog Lucca.
Visitation will be held at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. Monroe, Michigan, 48161, on Friday, November 14, 2025, beginning at 10:00 am followed by funeral services celebrating Gus's life at 12:00 noon. Fr. David Burgard, pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church in Monroe, will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe, where the VFW Post 1138 will conduct military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests tributes to the VFW Post 1138 at 400 Jones Ave, Monroe, MI 48161 or to an organization of your choice.
