Kent Roe Palmer

Kent Roe Palmer, 68, passed away suddenly from a heart attack on December 23, 2023 in Bolingbrook, IL. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and active member of the community. Kent especially loved serving the past year in the Bishops' Storehouse of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, helping to provide humanitarian aid and welfare to locals and refugees. He found great fulfillment when serving others and the church to which he belonged his entire life.
Kent was born on May 24, 1955 in Oakland, CA. He grew up there and later attended Utah State University, where he met and married his sweetheart, Delray. He graduated from BYU and the Palmers raised their two daughters in Sandy, UT, Littleton, CO, and Crystal Lake, IL.
Following a 30-year career in the insurance industry, Kent made a change late in life to follow his passion for reading and literature. He went back to school to get a master's degree in library science and eventually worked as a business librarian in the Naperville Public Library for nine years. He found joy in helping library patrons and was particularly proud of the NaperLaunch business services and curriculum program offered to support entrepreneurs. He continued to serve members of the community as a consultant and friend following his retirement in 2021.
Kent is survived by his wife of 46 years, Delray Dalla Corte, daughters Lindsay (Sterling) Jensen and Ashley (Joshua) Valgardson, seven grandchildren: Andrew, Lydia, Oliver Palmer, Kate, Evelyn, Jane and Lucas, and all of his siblings: Danna (Lane) Walsh, Mark (Karen) Palmer, Virginia (Paul) Findley, and James Bruce (Vicki) Palmer. He was preceded in death by his son Sean Timothy and his parents: Gerald and Evelyn Rayola Palmer, of Oakland, CA.
A viewing will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 516 S. Washington Street in Naperville from 6:30-8:30 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 30 at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1411 95th St, Naperville, followed by his interment.
