Born August 29, 1937, in Connersville, Indiana, to John T. and Edna P. Anderson Hamilton, Larry was a life-long resident of this area. He was a graduate of Richmond High School and served in the United States Army National Guard of Indiana. Larry retired after 39 years working at Richmond Community Schools as a maintenance coordinator. He was a member of American Legion Harry Ray Post #65. Larry enjoyed woodworking-especially turning bowls, fishing, traveling, driving on country roads, playing gin rummy with the grandkids, and spending time with family.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Kay E. Kidwell Hamilton, to whom he was married on January 1, 1957; children, Connie Kay (Barry) Brown, Diana Sparks, and John (Felicia) Hamilton; grandchildren, Joshua, Cody (Mandy), Justin (Ashley), Amber (Nacio), Heather (Gil), Chrissy, Kasey (Rusty); great-grandchildren, Taylor, David, Jaron, Kayleigh, Gabriel, Brennan, Rhett, Madyson, Mayci, Quinn, Stetson, Eli, Carter, Tristan, Brianna, Ryot, Rowan, and Chance; great-great-granddaughter, Nova Kay; and special friends who are like family, Matt "Hawg" (Nikki) Hall and family and Dylan Durham.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law, Grover Sparks.
Visitation for Larry Thomas Hamilton will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with special friend, Johnny "Pott" Sansbury officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
