Lifelong Martinsville resident, Michael L. Fishel, age 76, gained eternal rest at 3:15 PM on Saturday, June 21st, 2025, at his residence in Martinsville with his family by his side. Mike, as he was better known, was born in Bloomington, Indiana, on Wednesday, February 23rd, 1949, to the late Virden Leon "Butch" and Avis Maxine (Sanders) Fishel. Mike graduated with the class of 1967 from Martinsville High School and went to work immediately following graduation as a diesel mechanic at Clarke Detroit Diesel-Allison in Indianapolis for the following 30+ years. After retiring from Clarke Detroit Diesel-Allison, he began his second career, also working as a diesel mechanic, at Reliable Transmission Services in Greenwood, Indiana; retiring in 2013. Mike was a member of Eastview Christian Church in Martinsville, where he loved to worship and serve the Lord. He also found true enjoyment serving on the Fellowship Committee. Some of his favorite hobbies include playing golf, fishing, bowling, his dogs and most of all, watching his granddaughters play softball. He leaves behind a host of loving family including his "Honey", Debra A. "Debbie" (Ackerman) Fishel of Martinsville; whom he married on November 11th, 2011; sons, Jared (wife, Julie) Fishel and Rob Paris both of
Martinsville, IN; daughters, Cynthia (husband, Clay) Cruse of Franklin, IN, Megan (husband, Brad) Hemmelgarn of Avon, IN, and Julie Jessee of
Martinsville, IN; daughter-in-law, Elena Fishel of Houston, TX; brother, Steve (wife, Shonnie) Fishel of Bloomington, IN; bonus brother, Steve Brittain of Mooresville, IN; sisters, Ruth Ann White of Mooresville, IN, Patricia Woods and Mary Lou (husband, Bud) Gilbert both of
Martinsville, IN, and Delores (husband, Sam) Neal of Gosport, IN; twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren and one great grandchild due in October 2025. Along with his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his former beloved wife, Teresa K. "Terri" (Drury) Fishel; stepmother, Dixie Fishel Carter; son, Steve Fishel; and sister, Carolyn Fox. Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, June 26th, 2025, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center in Martinsville. A service celebrating Mike's life and legacy will begin immediately following the visitation at 1:00 PM at the funeral home and he will be laid to rest in Nebo Memorial Park Cemetery following the service. Contributions may be made in lieu of flowers in Mike's memory to the Morgan County Humane Society, 690 W. Mitchell Ave.,
