Nancy Jensen Hadley, age 77, passed away on June 13, 2025, following a long and courageous battle with the effects of a stroke.
She was born on November 12, 1947, in Gardner, Massachusetts, to Alice Ida Waite and Carl Oscar Jensen. From a young age, Nancy was devoted to her family. She was the younger of two children, growing up alongside her beloved older brother, Gordon Karl Jensen.
Nancy graduated from Bonneville High School in 1965. Following her first marriage, she devoted many years to raising her children and guiding them through their early years. As they grew older and entered their teenage years, Nancy began working in the payroll department at Weber State University. She was a dedicated and valued employee, known for her strong work ethic and mentorship. Her time at Weber State was deeply fulfilling, and she often shared fond memories of her experiences and the friendships she formed there. Nancy retired in 2017.
When she was 9 years old, Nancy and her family joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her faith and covenants were a core part of herself. She dedicated her life to serving in the Church. Her unwavering faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ was manifested through regular acts of love, kindness, and sacrifice.
Nancy's family settled in
Ogden, Utah, where she spent the majority of her life surrounded by the mountains she loved. She found great comfort in being close to family and deeply valued the sense of connection that came from living near those she held dear. During her first marriage to Edward Barry Hadley, she briefly lived out of state, but they soon returned to Ogden to raise their children in the family and beloved community. Later in life, Nancy was married to Daniel A. Loewen for several years. Throughout her life, her faith was a constant source of peace and strength, grounding her through both joys and challenges.
Throughout her life, Nancy pursued many talents and hobbies. While she was a young adult, she dedicated herself to modeling. Learning poise and elegance, she used her skills to teach others this same art.
Nancy had a lifelong love for music, a passion she shared with her older brother from an early age. Together, they learned to play the accordion as children-A skill that stayed with her throughout her life. One of her most treasured discoveries in recent years was an old record of her playing her accordion as a young girl.
In addition to her accordion talents, Nancy also played the piano and took voice lessons, developing a beautiful singing voice that she loved to share. Whether it was a holiday gathering, a birthday celebration, or a performance at a school, Nancy found joy in bringing music to others.
Cooking was one of Nancy's greatest joys. Her famous spaghetti recipe was well loved, and her signature 'cookie sheet cake', beautifully decorated with hand-piped flowers, a staple at every family celebration. Every meal was an expression of love, filled with warmth, laughter, and the comforting aromas of her kitchen. Nancy had a special gift for bringing people together, always making sure each person felt welcomed, valued, and cherished at her table.
Nancy loved to walk around her neighborhood, often at a pace that many would consider jogging. She cherished being outdoors, breathing in the fresh mountain air, and especially enjoyed walking in the comforting shadow of Ogden's majestic mountains. These walks were not only a way to maintain her health but also a time to refresh her spirit.
Creative by nature, Nancy had a special talent for sewing. She made Halloween costumes, matching clothes for her children, and even crafted many of her own outfits. Family and friends often relied on her willingness and skill to mend and alter even the most challenging sewing projects. One of her most cherished gifts was the pillowcases she lovingly made for everyone-now treasured keepsakes that provide a comforting reminder of Grandma Nancy beneath their heads each night. Sewing was one of the many ways Nancy expressed her love and care, creating lasting memories through her handiwork.
Nancy devoted as much time as possible to her children and grandchildren. Her children remember her as the heart of their family loving mother who led with both example and unwavering support. Her unconditional love was evident in every interaction and shaped the close-knit family she cherished.
She is survived by her children: Jonathan (Suzanne), Christopher (Danielle), Matthew (Deann), Angela, Michael (Kelsey), and sixteen beloved grandchildren. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Alice and Carl Jensen, her brother Gordon, and her granddaughter Abigail.
Nancy's legacy of selflessness and faith will continue to guide all who were close to her.
