Ruth Dalton Crotts, 87, of Newnan, GA passed away peacefully Sunday, September 15, 2024.
A native of Shelby, NC, Ruth was the wife of Donald Crotts and the daughter of Chesley Dalton and Addie Harrelson, all deceased. Ruth graduated from Appalachian State with a BS in Science and Math at 18 years of age. She also received a Master’s of Education in Math from the University of Georgia and an Education Specialist in Math from Georgia State University. Ruth also completed graduate work at Appalachian State and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She taught math for 30 plus years and retired from K-Mart Distribution Center after working for over a decade on the night shift. Ruth lived a remarkable life which she devoted to her family and friends.
Survivors include her daughters, Priscilla (Neil) Kendrick and Mary (Dan) Cato; grandchildren, Laura (Timothy II) Porche, Lindsey (Brian) Riggins and Zachary (Chianne) Cato; great grandchildren, Jesse, Jacob, Meadow and Luke Riggins, Isabella and Anarya Day, Timothy Porche III, Liam and Everett Cato; and brother, Edwin Dalton.
In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her infant son.
Memorial services celebrating her life will be held at 10:00AM Saturday, September 28, 2024, at St. Paul’s Methodist Church, 2622 New Prospect Church Rd., Shelby, NC; burial will follow in the Church cemetery.
