Obituary of Thomas Dennis Dembrowski
Thomas Dennis Dembrowski passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 23, 2024. He was 75 years old. He was born in Cambridge, MA the son of the late Waldo and Edna (Carey) Dembrowski.
Tom grew up in Belmont, MA where he would attend their schools. Everyday Tom sat In front of a short brown haired girl named Barbara DeMilia. She caught his eye and he caught hers. As they grew closer and closer day by day they started to date at the age of 15. They grew very much in love and became childhood and high school sweethearts. They graduated from Belmont high school in 1967 and would later marry in 1976 at the age of 27. Later that year Tom and Barbara would purchase their forever home in Burlington, MA.
Tom worked in concrete most of his career. He built his own dormers and addition to his Burlington home. He added a stonewall around the front yard along with a sidewalk of cement steps. He could fix almost anything in his home and knew of any work trade. Saying he should have a professional do the repair made him only more determined to do it himself.
Tom worked for Kennin Custom Concrete in Billerica, MA in the late 70s through early 80s. He would then branch out to start his own company called Thomas Concrete in 1985. Tom and his team (which became friends) did all sorts of cement work from walkways, stairs, patios, in ground pools and decks, stonewalls, basements and commercial construction. Some of the projects included work for Water Country, The House of Blues, Court Houses and a few celebrity homes. He definitely was a concrete artist when it came to his skill and workmanship.
Tom was always a kid at heart. He soon would enjoy becoming a father to a son and daughter himself. He loved watching them grow. He purchased a Dodge Honey Sportsman Camper that he would take his family on road trips up North. Later he purchased a mobile home which he kept at Winnisquam Beach Resort.
Tom would purchase a large boat, a few snowmobiles and quads for he and his family to enjoy. Tom actually taught both of his kids how to drive all of them at a young age. The family spent 15 plus years at the resort socializing with friends and enjoying the outdoor life.
After the kids were grown, Tom purchased 11 acres of land in Vermont where he moved the mobile home and outdoor toys to. He made a rustic retreat for himself and his sidekick dog "The Mooch" who he took everywhere. Tom and his son have some great memories in Vermont.
Tom had a heart of gold. He would spend hours in his Bobcat during snowstorms clearing out his neighbors driveways and walkways. He loved teaching people new things about his machines as he would be working in his backyard. He was the first to offer to lend a helping hand to neighbors, friends and family but the last to ask for any help from others.
Tom loved telling and listening to stories about life. He enjoyed sitting outside by a fire and stars listening to his favorite music such as Elvis, Dean Martin, John Denver, Neil Diamond and Johnny Horton.
Tom was the beloved husband of Barbara Louise (DeMilia) Dembrowski for 48 years and a couple for 60. He was the proud father of Thomas Dembrowski and his wife Betsy of Hudson, NH and Danielle Dembrowski of Burlington, MA. He was the brother of Karen Dembrowski of TN, the late Gerald Dembrowski and his surviving wife Carla of FL, and the late Robert Dembrowski. He was the proud grandfather of "TJ" Dembrowski and Averie Louise Dembrowski.
Funeral Services will be private. Memorials in his name may be made to the Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave, Salem, MA 01970 or www.mspca.org.
