Thomas Franks, 54, passed away peacefully at his home in Lafayette on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.
Born on September 21, 1970, in Lafayette, Thomas was the son of Mary Ann and John Phillips. A graduate of Jefferson High School in 1989, he served in the U.S. Air Force as a Fire Protection Specialist from 1989 to 1991, serving in Operation Desert Storm. Following his service, Thomas became a welder, a trade he practiced for over 20 years, later transitioning to a role with Integrity Care. A dedicated volunteer, Thomas also served at The Recovery Café, where he was known for his compassionate heart and readiness to help others.
Thomas celebrated 10 years of sobriety and valued time with his family and friends, especially enjoying outdoor activities like hunting and fishing. His genuine kindness and constant willingness to help made him a cherished friend to many, always putting others before himself.
Thomas is survived by his wife of 13 years, Tonya Marie Franks; his mother, Mary Ann Phillips; his siblings, Matthew (Deanna) Franks and Angela (James) Larson; and his children, Oksana Wensley, Cheyanne (Austin) Lowrence, Keyera (Josh) Reggs, Skyler-Dale Franks, Brent Emerson, and Dakota Franks. He will also be deeply missed by his grandchildren: Anastasia, Colby, Arazaylee, Dabney, Eternity, Clarabella, Elijah, Sekani, Prince, and Abel.
Thomas's caring spirit and willingness to help others will be fondly remembered and missed by all who knew him.
Family and friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday November 8th, 2024 at Evergreen Wesleyan Church, 1525 Grove Street in Lafayette.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday November 8th, 2024, at At Evergreen Wesleyan Church, 1525 Grove Street in Lafayette. Burial to follow at Yorktown Cemetery.
