Carol F. Lumpkin passed away on November 11, 2022 at the age of 82. Carol was born on August 16, 1940 in Mount Pleasant, Texas to Ivan Preston and Mary Hettie (Wilson) Fleming. She was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband of 51 years, Donald L. Lumpkin and her grandson, John F. Lumpkin, II.
Carol graduated from high school in Big Sandy, Texas in 1958. She attended the University of Texas at Austin where she performed with the Longhorn Band as a Texas Star twirler. After starting her family with Don, she returned to school at the University of Houston obtaining her bachelor's and master's degrees in English. Carol began her teaching career at the University of Houston and Houston Community College. Carol appreciated the University of Houston as it provided an opportunity for her to raise her family, pursue an education and begin her career. While the family resided in McAllen, Texas for a few years, Carol taught at Mission High School and had some of the best fun during her teaching career.
Carol is survived by her children, Steven L. Lumpkin and wife, Mana; John F. Lumpkin and partner, Lisa and Kathryn A. Lumpkin and husband, Rodman. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Lauren Floyd and her husband Craig, their sons Levi and Caleb; and Samuel J. Lumpkin and his partner, Isabella.
Carol believed in spirituality and faith, unity and grace. She is now reunited with her family and friends that predeceased her and also with Lani dog (pictured), Fuzzcat and many, many other beloved four-legged family members.
A celebration of life will be held in early 2023. If you wish to honor Carol, please consider a donation to your favorite animal or educational charity. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Carol, please visit our Tree Store.
