Carolyn M. Sermersheim, 84, of Evansville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Premier Healthcare of New Harmony.
Carolyn was born on October 25, 1940, in Evansville to the late Edgar G. and Martha A. (Rohde) Bumb. She was a graduate of FJ Reitz High School and received an associate's degree from Evansville College. After graduation Carolyn worked at Reitz High School for several years and later at Jim Will Insurance. She was a co-owner and operator of Sermersheim Fiberglass, Inc. Although Carolyn never had children of her own, family was always important to her. She treated her nieces, nephews and employees as if they were her children. She loved animals, travel, following politics, and history, especially the Civil War. Carolyn was also a former member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ.
Surviving Carolyn are her brother, Lee Bumb; brother-in-law, David Schroeder; nieces and nephews, Jessica (Joshua) Stock, Shannon Schroeder and Allen Schroeder; grandnieces and grandnephew, Chloe, Carly and Caleb Stock.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, James C. Sermersheim in 2013; by sisters, Lennita Ann Schroeder and Bettye Brown.
Funeral services for Carolyn will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Jeff Long officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 AM until service time on Friday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Vanderburgh County Humane Society, 400 Millner Industrial Drive, Evansville, IN 47710 or to your favorite charity.
