Nancy Jayne Compton, 76, of Lititz, PA, exchanged earthly time for life eternal on Monday evening, March 24, 2025 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon. Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Paul J. Connolly, Sr. and the late Frances Lewis Connolly. She was the loving wife of Glenn L. Compton for 45 years on December 24.
After graduating from Northampton High School, she furthered her formal education by earning a bachelor's degree from La Roche University in Pittsburgh and a master's degree from Lehigh University. In addition to being a commercial artist, Nancy was deeply committed to sharing her craft and knowledge with others. As an instructor of commercial art and a substitute teacher, she found joy in inspiring creativity in her students. Her studio, built alongside her home, was a place where she could immerse herself in her work. Nancy's passion for genealogy also led her to research and publish a book on the Herndon (PA) Camp Meeting, where she maintained a beloved cottage and preserved its traditions. A devoted disciple of Jesus, Nancy attended East Cocalico Church of the Brethren in Stevens and was a faithful participant in Bible Study Fellowship.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Glenn L. Compton, Jr. (Carrie L. Milinski) of Blacksburg, VA and their children, Cora, Claire, and Quinn; and Greg L. Compton (Rhiana M. Powell) of Fairfax, VA and their daughter Emelia. She is also survived by two siblings, Paul Connolly, Jr. (Donna) of Bath, and Linda Scott (Dave) of Bethlehem.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday morning, April 1, 2025 at 11:00 AM at East Cocalico Church of the Brethren, 4 Bunker Hill Road, Stevens, PA. The family will receive guests on Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service and again during a luncheon immediately following the service. A viewing will be held on Monday evening, March 31 from 6-7:30 PM at Simple Funerals, 40 North Charlotte Street, Manheim, PA. Please omit flowers. If desired, contributions may be made in her memory to East Cocalico Church of the Brethren, PO Box 288, Reamstown, PA 17567. I am so shocked and so very sorry to hear of the passing of Nancy. I´ve known Nancy for years as she was my babysitter when I was a young child. My condolences to the family on their loss. May she rest in peace
