A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on November 3, 2023, at 5:00 PM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, located at 830 East Blvd., Williamston. A second service will take place at Arlington National Cemetery on a date and time to be determined.
Russell attended Alexian Brother's Hospital School of Nursing, DePaul University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and North Carolina State University.
He served in the US Army Nurse Corps.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gene and Terry Memorial Garden, AAMN (American Association for Men in Nursing), NCNA (North Carolina Nurses Association), or Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Williamston, NC.

I met Mr. Tranbarger in the early 1980´s during the time him and his wife lived in Greensboro. N.C . My husband and I did yard work for them and he was so nice to us and later on our children would grow up helping. I had lost touch with him and hadn´t talked to him after my phone broke and I no longer had his number but today after church he came on my mind and I searched for his name and the obituary came up and I became lost for words. I do want to give his family my sincere condolences and he will certainly be missed.
