Vito J. Disibio, 76, of Tolland, beloved husband of 49 years to Anna Maria (Giovannucci) Disibio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 22, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on December 9, 1948, in Frigento, Italy, to the late Joseph and Carmela (Ieffa) Disibio, and was one of three children. At the age of six, Vito and his family immigrated to the United States, settling in Waterbury, Connecticut, where he attended local schools and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School, Class of 1967.
Vito was a longtime veteran of the shoe industry, opening his own store, Feet First, in 1994. He proudly owned and operated the business for over 20 years. A hardworking and dedicated family man, he built lasting relationships with many customers, always eager to lend a hand. He found great joy in spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren, often sharing stories about them with a smile on his face. Vito was passionate about his Italian heritage, a proud 30-year member of UNICO, an Italian-American service organization, in Bristol and Manchester. He was also a loyal parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Tolland and Rockville. An avid sports fan, he supported the Mets and Jets and had a special fondness for UConn basketball.
In addition to his wife, Vito is survived by his two children, Laura Fair and her husband Craig, and Michael Disibio and his wife Christine, both of Tolland. He also leaves behind his beloved five grandchildren, Dominic, Giuliana, Rocco, Joseph, and Elizabeth; his two siblings, Anna Disibio and Joseph Disibio, both of Southbury; his brother-in-law, Mario Giovannucci and his wife Andrea of Bristol; as well as his nephew, Matthew Giovannucci, and his niece, Jennifer Busbee.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 5-7 p.m. at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Rd. (Rte 83) in Vernon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 27, beginning at 11 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Parish – St. Bernard Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Rockville. Guests are asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cornerstone Foundation, P.O.
