George Mercke III

George Mercke III, 89, passed away on March 26, 2025. He was born October 13, 1935 in Louisville Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Stitzel Mercke, Margaret (Purdy) Mercke; and siblings Peggy Mercke Vytlacil and Robert Mercke. George is survived by his two children, George Mercke (Carrie Mercke), Leila Evans; and two grandchildren, Maggie Mercke and Sam Mercke. He is a graduate of Atherton High School, Washington and Lee University, University of Kentucky and University of Louisville. George loved horses, the ocean, grilling, yellow labs, music and merriment with friends. His memorial service will be held 2pm Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Pearson's, 149 Breckenridge Ln with burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 11:00am - 2:00pm. Arrangements under the direction of Pearson's, "Where Louisville Goes to Remember".
